Call for facilitators! Join us to deliver Cultural Safety workshops

Are you an experienced facilitator or have experience teaching?
Have you worked with ethnic communities?
Do you want to help mainstream services to better engage with ethnic clients?

If you answered Yes, you should send us an expression of interest (EoI) to participate in Shama’s Training of Trainer (TOT) to deliver the Cultural Safety Programme in your region.

We are looking for people from ethnic backgrounds to help us grow our training services. The Cultural Safety training equips mainstream crisis services to engage/help ethnic communities better. Participants gain theoretical knowledge and practical tools to take back and use with their ethnic clients. They also take communications tips for asking critical questions about faith, culture, racism, and visas.

The Training of Trainer (TOT) will take place in Hamilton (venue TBC) over four days from the 17th  to the 20th   of October 2023.

The TOT training covers an in-depth curriculum, including cultural awareness, addressing biases, supporting ethnic clients and creating inclusive spaces.

You will engage in interactive sessions, group discussions, case studies, and role-playing to enhance your facilitation skills.

We will provide you with access to a comprehensive resource kit containing presentation materials, handouts, and reference materials for your future workshops.

After the TOT training, and with our support, you must facilitate 2 trainings in your region. Shama will provide a training allowance ($300/each for the 1st training, and $400 for the 2nd training to the community).

Shama will also cover:
•    Travelling and accommodation costs for participants to TOT training in Hamilton (17-20 October)
•    $400 koha for attending the 4 days TOT training in Hamilton

Please contact the Training Coordinator, Maria Ceballos to express your interest or for more information. The closing date to submit an EoI along with a CV is 11th of September 2023.  Email: training@shama.org.nz
