This programme supports parents who are new to Aotearoa New Zealand to explore positive parenting in a way that respects their culture, values, and traditions, while also understanding the legal and social context of parenting in New Zealand.
Parenting in a new country can bring both challenges and opportunities. This programme creates a safe and supportive space for parents to reflect on how they were parented, what is important to them as caregivers, and how to raise children confidently within New Zealand laws.
Workshops are interactive and discussion-based. Parents are encouraged to share their experiences, learn from each other, and explore practical strategies that work for their whānau.
Topics covered include:
- Culture, identity, and parenting in ethnic families
- Parenting in the New Zealand context
- Laws related to children and parenting in Aotearoa
- Children’s rights, needs, and development
- Practical tools and tips for positive parenting
The programme supports parents to feel more confident, informed, and connected, and to strengthen relationships within their families.
We have trained facilitators located across the country. If you are part of a community group, school, or organisation that would like us to deliver this programme, please get in touch to discuss your needs.
