Coming Together for Creative Experiences
Shama is looking for ethnic and cultural crafters to take part in our project called “Coming Together for Creative Experiences”, which involves all our senses through films, radio, craft, and food. This project is a multi-sensory approach to increase social cohesion and cultural understanding.
As a project collaborator, you will be representing your culture or craft through demonstration of an art/craft workshop and/or you will also have the opportunity to co-facilitate a film and discussion event and be a guest presenter on the local radio station. Shama will be handling all the project logistics, publicity and costs.
Each month will focus on a different culture: craft, crafter, food, and film. Hence, we’re looking for at least eight different cultures.
Benefits of participation include getting recognition for your talent which could bring you customers or clients. You will also be helping to create more social cohesion and intercultural understanding in Hamilton.
If you would like to partner with us in this project, please contact the project coordinator, Samantha Rose, via email@example.com or phone 027 843 3002.
There will be eight day-time workshop sessions over eight months where a cultural crafter or ethnic artist will lead a 2-3 hour workshop on their chosen craft to a group of people from the public.
There will be eight movie nights. When possible the movie will be related to the culture or country of the craft person. It will be an engaging event where people can ask questions after the movie.
There will be a weekly half-hour radio show where the Shama host will interview people from the month’s culture/country who will share stories of interest, information, news, and other relevant content
