Shama, Hamilton Ethnic Women’s Centre Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated Youth Worker to deliver programmes that are culturally and age appropriate to ethnic youth. This includes planning, organising and overseeing a community programme designed to redress inequalities and facilitate the personal, social and emotional development of young people between the ages of 12-17.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for:
and deliveringthe Youth Explore Programme.
- Prepare and submit
- Referring clients
to communityservices if needed, to help them achieve their goals.
- Networking and maintaining good relations with other service providers and stakeholders.
The key skills required for this role are:
- The candidate must have or is studying towards
a socialwork, counselling or teaching degree.
- Passion and
understanding ofSocial Justice.
- Rapport with youth
- Ability to establish
and maintainpositive working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Good verbal and
- Ability to
demonstrate initiative, maturity, good judgement and flexibility.
- Excellent time
management andorganisational skills.
- Full drivers Licence
- Clean NZ Police checks
Preference is given to those who have:
- Experience working with ethnic communities.
- More than 1 language ability
- Experience of working with at risk families
