YOUTH WORKER VACANCY

Shama, Hamilton Ethnic Women’s Centre Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated Youth Worker to deliver programmes that are culturally and age appropriate to ethnic youth. This includes planning, organising and overseeing a community programme designed to redress inequalities and facilitate the personal, social and emotional development of young people between the ages of 12-17.

Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and delivering the Teen’s Explore Programme.
  • Prepare and submit monthly report.
  • Referring clients to community services if needed, to help them achieve their goals.
  • Networking and maintaining good relations with other service providers and stakeholders.

The key skills required for this role are:

  • The candidate must have or is studying towards a social work, counselling or teaching degree.
  • Passion and understanding of Social Justice.
  • Rapport with youth
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, maturity, good judgement and flexibility.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Full drivers Licence
  • Clean NZ Police checks

Preference is given to those who have:

  • Experience working with ethnic communities.
  • More than 1 language ability
  • Experience of working with at risk families

Vacancy: Administration Support Worker

Shama, Hamilton Ethnic Women’s Centre Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated Administration Support Worker to join our busy team.  Reporting to the Manager, the Office Administrator is responsible for providing assistance to the staff and programme coordinators.

In this role you will:

  • Complete general administrative tasks as required
  • Help us maintain the centre as vibrant and safe space
  • Reception duties for the Centre and assisting with general enquiries
  • Maintaining enrolment records and attendance sheets of clients
  • Assisting with analysing end of term evaluation forms
  • Supporting the successful functioning of programmes, workshops and activities

Ideally, you will have:

  • An understanding of the experiences of ethnic women from a range of backgrounds
  • An ability to work with people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds
  • A friendly, personable and helpful demeanour
  • Experience in office administration, proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office and Social media platforms
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Initiative, be decisive, efficient and thrive working as part of a small yet close-knit team
